R9000-Defective 2.4ghz chipset

Did you do a factory reset after the firmware upgrade? You can try that, and if that doesn't work try reloading the previous firmware manually and see if the previous firmware revives the 2.4g chipset. Let us know what happens.

And there's no purpose in hooking up a separate AP to keep this router in place. The freaking thing cost $400+ when new. It should last more than 3yrs.
It appears that the flash somehow fried the 2.4ghz chipset....This is not a one-off instance either. Netgear knows about their design flaw in this router.
Try loading Voxels Fw on the R9000 to see if it might recover the unit.
Well its possible it may not be a design flaw or possible something just burn out the radio. Not a lot of post reporting this problem. You seem to be the only one. Why would you not connect up a external AP to keep your 400$ router working. If it's working accept for the 2.4Ghz part, it's not that expensive to connect something up to take over the load. :smileyfrustrated:
