Why is it that when I select my 5G it says it is out of range when my router is right underneath my device

The control you shown this has not fixed anything - as it does not change anything on the router configuration.
We're always keen to learn however.

To my knowledge, the Nighthawk App does not offer any control over the wireless channels why ever.
Use the router Web UI (the web based Genie) ideally, e.g. via http://routerlogin.net

Sorry folks. I went to my Netgear genie and changed the order of the WiFi to have the 5G in the lust as the first WiFi to connect and now it works. The channel is only up to 11. Thank you all
