The modem is a Netgear CM1000. Hope that helps. Thanks
That rules out one of the common causes of problems.A modem router in front of a router.

What does that mean? You can plug something into this magic box and connect something or other to the Internet?
I'd go through the steps you have described again:
- Factory reset

- Restart the network as you described.
- Set it up yet again
I can't tell how you went about this to begin with: where possible do it with a browser and a wired connection into the router.
If there are still problems, then dive in and start the warranty process.
Start the RMA process by checking MyNetgear.

Been there already done that about 10 times. I have no warranty. Do you know how to diagnose the ports? Do I run the cable from the input to one of the outputs? And then check what? or does anyone else know anything to check? Thanks

And also what you're asking about some magic box, no, it's not magic, just listen to what I say. If I bypass the router and hook the PC directly into the modem, it works fine. No magic whatsoever but when I put the router into the loop, no internet. Got it?
