I got an email in August saying the firmware should be updated to version V1.0.11.106. I have not been able to perform the upgrade since then. I just got a new email saying it should be updated again. Still won't update.
Your signature states you have a R7000P AC2300. If that is the case, you won't get far with the firmware you're trying to download because the firmwares you have mentioned, are for the R7000 AC1900. So which router have you got?
Even then, if you have got the AC1900 version, the latest firmware is v.110
Furthermore, if you are one of the unfortunate AC1900 owners who claim their router wi-fi drops out all the time for no apparent reason, then the standard line thrown out on this forum is, downgrade to v.42. Bear in mind if you follow that advice, although your router might be more 'stable' insofar as the wi-fi not dropping, it's a 3 year old fimrware that may or may not be full of security holes. You take your chances on that one. But then Netgear make all their previous downloads available to allow folks to roll back if they choose to and yet the very purpose of firmware upgrades, is to fix/plug security and functionality issues. It seems some routers don't handle some of these 'upgrades' too well.
You don't appear to be the only router owner who is getting confused with model numbers and firmwares.

Thank you for your help. The unit is an R7000 AC1900. I just chose the first one in the list when I was filling in the form so I could finish the entry. I ended up taking your advice and that of the other reply to download the proper file and connect directly with my computer to update the firmware successfully.
You mention something about the AC1900 version having a problem with the wifi dropping out all the time; I did have that problem for several moinths last year, but it seems to have gone away. There were a couple of drop outs recently, that's one reason why I was trying to get the firmware updated. I guess I'll see how it goes. Thanks again for your help.
