R7000 bridge mode, one reliable, one not

I have 2 r7000 routers running in bridge mode.  Both are running V1.0.9.64_10.2.64.   One of them has been rock solid, the other is losing its' bridge connection every day or 2 and has to be rebo...

    I figure it out eventually.  I have an R7000p in the basement with an EX8000 as an access point on the far side of the first floor. 

     

    Signal to the 7000p in the basement was better than to the EX8000 for the problematic R7000, but sometimes it would connect to the EX8000 anyway.  To prevent this, I banned the MAC of the R7000 on the EX8000 so it would only connect to the R7000p.  This worked on reboot and would work for some number of days, but then (possibly due to smart connect) the R7000 would try to connect to the EX8000 and fail due to the ban - the way out was to reboot the R7000.  I removed the MAC ban on the EX8000 and it has been stable for a few weeks now, though throughput is down at times due to its connecting to the EX8000.
