I tried all the options given on different forums but no luck. Netgear support gave me beta V1.0.5.49_20151208_timesync firmware which fixed the issue.

Well that wasn't any good sending in a ticket as I'm well out of the 90 days free support. They say about getting a hardware check done by them but I doubt that would help as several of us have the same problem after updating the firmware. They suggest I get Gearhead Premium Services but that would cost an arm and a leg in call charges from the UK, so I guess I'll just have to wait till the next firmware update.

I'm sorry. I've just checked on the support website and they have removed the link to FW version R7000-V1.0.3.80-1.1.38. Please mail me and I'm gonna try to help you. oseiasslompo@gmail.com.

madmoggies You may want to try the latest beta firmware available here.

Thanks ElaineM.
I've now installed that beta firmware. It's currently showing 1st Jan 2005 again but there's nothing in the logs about time check so I'll give it a day or so and see if it picks up the correct date. If not, I have an older version of the firmware from a year ago, which worked fine then.- ElaineMMay 04, 2016NETGEAR Employee Retired
Don't forget to reset after loading the new beta firmware.
I am currently using the beta and it's showing the correct date on mine.

Thanks oseiasslompo!
I've now downloaded the beta firmware mentioned in the later reply from ElaineM and installed that. No sign of the correct date so far but I'll see if it updates over the next day or so.
If it doesn't work I have a copy of later firmware than the one you suggested, R7000-V1.0.4.30_1.1.67.chk from last May, which worked fine, so will go through the same process again and see if that fixes it!
