R7960P firmware not upgrading
I have attempted multiple times to upgrade my current firmware, V1.4.1.44_1.3.5, to V1.4.1.50_1.3.10 and it fails. I have tried letting the router update itself and also downloading upgrade zip file ...

My 2 cents: If you aren't experiencing problems without the update, forget about it. Ignore the "update available" nag message. Eventually, Netgear will release a new update which (probably) will work.
If you ARE having problems with the router, if it's under warranty, send it back. If not under warrenty, try rolling back to a previous update (look it up, down load the file, connect to the router via ethernet wire, and upload/apply old update from Administrator tools). If that works, make sure you turn off the "automatic update" switch in those same Admin tools.
Other than that, if out of warranty and the router is "not working", time to buy a new one. ("Not working" or "problems" is a wide open category. If something's wrong because you've mis-configured the router, resetting it to defaults may fix the problem for you, too. Resetting is your "hail Mary pass", i.e. or, "if all else fails" thingy. If it doesn't work after that, your router is probably bricked.)

I agree. Follow that old saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Lots of folks take a working router and try through the auto update or app and wind up with a paper weight untll doing a tftp.
