ReadySHARE Windows 10 + KB3189866
 Windows 10 cumulative update KB3189866 breaks readyshare. :smileysurprised:
 Uninstall it if you can't access your readyshare folder.
- Sep 25, 2016Problem solved. The solution below absolutely worked for me! The one thing to say is that when you create the Windows Credential - you must enter a user name and password, and... 1. I had to configure readyshare itself to allow read and write access to a username - i selected admin. 2. The windows credential required the router username "admin" and the password for admin. I tried my windows username and password, and i was able to connect to map the drive, but not open the contents of it. With admin and the password, i was able to get it to work! >Found a solution: >go into user account in control panel >if you're in windows 10 select manage your credentials this will open 2 options >web credentials and windows credentials >head to windows credentials and add a new windows credential >enter the location of the drive \\readyshare on the first line >your windows user name in the second line >your windows password in the third line >and you're done, you should see the drive under network and be able to access it as before >good luck

I am NOT sure who should own this problem. It works fine as long as you use it properly I think?
First of all, my post above yours shows I can 'see' the USB drive and have the latest Windows Update, the Aniv. Update.
Second, if one p/w protects the drive OR folder it stops anything, such as most remote programs that can NOT handle the UID/PW request.
Again, let me demonstrate. I can see the drive with a NET VIEW command:
==========
C:\>net view
Server Name            Remark
-----------------------------------------
\\IRV8700              Irv's 8700
\\READYSHARE           readyshare
The command completed successfully.
===========
I can DO a network drive attach (:
==================
C:\>net use Z: \\readyshare\usb_storage
The command completed successfully.
===================
I can 'look' at Z:
=============
C:\>dir z:
 Volume in drive Z is USB_Storage
 Volume Serial Number is 996C-1171
 Directory of Z:\
08/30/2016  04:33 PM    <DIR>          .
01/01/2015  01:00 AM    <DIR>          ..
05/10/2014  01:54 PM    <DIR>          $RECYCLE.BIN
05/30/2013  07:15 PM    <DIR>          AUTORUN
07/23/2009  02:07 PM                28 AUTORUN.INF
04/09/2016  01:26 PM    <DIR>          netgear_downloader
05/30/2013  07:22 PM    <DIR>          share
01/24/2015  10:02 AM    <DIR>          SSR_BACKUP
10/06/2014  03:21 PM    <DIR>          System Volume Information
09/14/2015  10:26 AM    <DIR>          W10_image
04/15/2005  08:48 AM             6,722 WDLOGO.ICO
               2 File(s)          6,750 bytes
               9 Dir(s)  76,752,343,040 bytes free
================
I can look at the shares:
==================
C:\>net view \\readyshare
Shared resources at \\readyshare
readyshare
Share name   Type  Used as  Comment
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Movies       Disk           read:all-no password;write:all-no password
USB_Storage  Disk  Z:       read:admin;write:admin
The command completed successfully.
===========================
NOTE I have 2 shares, USB_Storage (which I did a NET USE to as Z:) and Movies. On is P/W protected, the other is NOT protected.
I can do a DIR to Movies:
============
C:\>dir \\readyshare\movies
 Volume in drive \\readyshare\movies is Movies
 Volume Serial Number is 996D-0A33
 Directory of \\readyshare\movies
05/30/2013  07:22 PM    <DIR>          .
08/30/2016  04:33 PM    <DIR>          ..
05/24/2015  08:36 PM    <DIR>          video
               0 File(s)              0 bytes
               3 Dir(s)  76,752,343,040 bytes free
==============
I can do a DIR to USB_Storage:
===============
C:\>dir \\readyshare\usb_storage
 Volume in drive \\readyshare\usb_storage is USB_Storage
 Volume Serial Number is 996C-1171
 Directory of \\readyshare\usb_storage

So it works for me. Why am I not having a problem? What I know I CAN NOT do is access the UID/PW protected USB_Storage or the folders under it UNLESS the program/device trying to access those folders are able to handle the UID and PW. My iPad apps that can play movies or music off of the USB drive CAN NOT do it if they are under USB_Storage, but can on the Movies share.
I've never had a problem doing any of this, and I used at first Explorer to open the network and the open the USB drive and use the Context Menu to share the drive as Z:, without a problem.
How are you trying to do this, a different way?

The anniversary update itself wasn't a problem, some updates since then have caused the problem. I still have the original update I mentioned uninstalled. I new update was pushed yesterday and this again caused the issue so I had to uninstall that one also.
This needs some direction from Netgear as to whether this is a router issue that needs a firmware update or if it's a problem on Microsoft's side. Continually uninstalling updates or forcing them to not install again is going to get tedious really quickly.
Thanks!
- IrvSpSep 22, 2016Masterpblagay, I didn't get an update yesterday, the last was 9/14, and I just checked an I am up-to-date? Everything works for me? I'm posting a screenshot of my UPDATE HISTORY (it might take some time to appear): I've NOT deleted any updates either. Question, did you run SFC /SCANNOW? If not, try running it. Use Windows Key + R and enter CMD and then at the CMD prompt SFC /SCANNOW. If it shows a problem and can't fix it, you might need to use DISM, see HERE for details. Have you tried booting into SAFE MODE with NETWORKING and seeing if it works? Do you have another computer to try? Personally I don't think this is a NetGear problem otherwise I couldn't do it. Since I can, it might not be an MS problem either? It could be something specific to your installation though. From a CMD prompt have you run - NET VIEW
- NET SHARE
 Have you tried to SHARE a partition on the USB with NET SHARE (NET SHARE x: USB Drive, i.e. NET SHARE Y: \\READYSHARE\SHARE)? What happens? My results are above.
