ReadyShare
I have a R6700v2 router with a ReadyShare USB drive connected. I'm trying to restore a backup to a laptop which required a clean install of Windows 11. Using ReadyShare Vault software (ver 2.0.10.100...

Thanks for the suggestion of accessing the files directly from the new laptop. I had assumed that they were compacted/encoded by the ReadyShare software, so it would be necessary to use that software to access them. Turns out they are not encoded and readily available to move to the new device. Everything is now resolved. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
ReadySHARE works with most standard file formats. Any encryption is down to whatever software you use to move data between devices.
. Looks like I need to look into a replacement for my 5 year old router...I doubt if that will do much to change matters. Netgear doesn't seem to have changed the basic operation of USB operations. If anything it is removing USB from some newer devices., his has been a big complaint among Orbi users. They originally had a useless USB port. Now even that has gone.

Restore what? The router? Windows?
I realize ReadyShare is no longer supported, but I am hopeful that there is a workaround so that I don't lose years worth of files on my laptop.
Still works here.
Maybe a few more details would help.
Backup of what? Where is it held?
What software are you using to restore whatever it is that you want to recover?

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to restore laptop files (e.g. documents, pictures, etc) that were backed up to the ReadyShare USB drive before my laptop died. It's around 60GB of data that I want to put onto a new laptop. The laptop is running Windows 11 and I am using ReadyShare Vault software (version 2.0.10.100) to access the files and restore from the USB drive to my new laptop. Only problem is that I continue to get the "No files selected" warning when I clearly have selected files for transfer.

Why not just plug the USB drive into the new laptop?
That would be more reliable and a lot quicker.
It would also confirm that the USB drive is still working.

Fortunately, you can tell Windows 11 to work with ReadySHARE. That message is five years old, but the advice still holds.

Thanks as well for the heads-up on the SMBv1 vulnerability issue. That might explain why I had intermittent problems accessing the drive. Looks like I need to look into a replacement for my 5 year old router...
