Repeater or Bridge?
Hello Again,
I posted a discussion yesterday, but I may not have been asking the correct thing here.
I have a R6200V2 and want to simply use it to repeat or extend the current router I have in place.
My question is, is if I set the router up for this initially, will this extend or repeat the signal from the main router without the need of attaching it to a network connection? In other words, can I set the R6200v2 up as a extender and simply plug it in with no cat5 attached to it and will it extend the signal?
Excuse me if I'm mixing up the terminology, extend, bridge, repeater etc....I'm a novice and aren't well versed in routers.
All I want to do is get my WiFi signal to a place just out of range without having to plug it into a network connection if possible.
Thank you,
Ralph

IF this router supports Repeating then it will be in a way helping to extend the wifi signal out farther from the main host router its connected to and repeating the signal from that wifi router.
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for General Router products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with older routers and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:
