Its just frustrating i cant just have someone talk me through it for free and i have to pay $90 when it is an issue with their router. They should want to help and it be a smooth process

Is it an issue with their router though? Or is it an issue with the way cox setup the system? Since it was working fine before. That's the problem.
I assure you, they do want to help, but they can't offer support free for the life of a product or they'd lose money big time. They offer it for free for 90 days to ensure people can get their systems setup and working. And they do warranty products. But past that, they're aren't home users IT department for free. They will help if you want to pay for it.
But if should you choose to pay for it, they'll still need basic information like what the routers connected to.
If its in a double nat, it can cause instabilities. Which is why i keep trying to figure out what gateway its connected to. Trace the wire. Find out where coax enters the home and find out what gateway/device it is. They all have a label with model number on them. They're required to.
