Router Blocking Websites
A few months ago after I updated my firmware, I was no longer able to access a number of websites and apps. Specifically, I can no longer access my banking website or app, credit card website or app, ...

What firmware version do you have on the device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.
It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

What are you using to access those sites? Which browser? Tried others?
What happens when you try? These things usually provide some messages as to why they won't connect.

- Firmware version V1.0.0.48
- Modem: Arris SURFboard SB6183
- LAN ports located on the back of the router
- Browsers used: Safari and Google Chrome, as well as the Fifth Third Bank app and Capital One app
- Error messages:
- Fifth Third Bank allows me to visit the website/app, but when I try to log in it says "User ID and Password Invalid." If I try to say forgot password, it tells me no account exists with my user name. If I try to create an entirely new username and password, it won't let me proceed. As soon as I turn off my wifi or connect to someone else's internet, my username/password work fine.
- On my laptop, Draft Kings just says "limit exceeded." On my phone, it says "Too Many Requests. Your device and/or account has been temporarily restricted. Your account or IP has been temporarily restricted from viewing DraftKings due to sending too many requests in a short time frame. If you believe this is in error, please contact customer support with a description of what you were doing at the time your saw this error message." I receive this error message before I had ever created the account or ever visited the website before, and as soon as I am disconnected from my wifi, my account works fine. I have no made multiple log-in attempts or anything like that.

None of the responses you list would seem to have much to do with a router.
Sounds more like some picky security software.
I see other reports of this one:
Third Bank "User ID and Password Invalid"

No modem/router getting in the way.

I recently ran into a similar issue. It appears that I was signed up for a trial of Netgear Armor (Bitdefender) and they were blocking my access to a few websites. If I connected via HTTPS, I got a generic error page on my devices (mostly Macs and iOS devices). After a full day of chewing out my ISP, i tried connecting via HTTP and got an actual block page from Netgear Armor. That was the issue. I turned off Netgear Armor and resolved the problem. I also found out that you can go to https://armor.netgear.com/myrouters and see what websites have been blocked, and add exceptions for them in the software.
I've suggested that they fix this so that HTTPS sites deliver a standard blcokpage as well instead of just letting me get a generic error from the browser or OS.
Might not be your problem, but something to check.
