Thank you for the prompt reply!
http is not encrypted so the login passwords are sent clear text. Someone already logged in the WiFi can intercept these packets
I cannot see the web services option. Have they stopped updating the OS for this router ?

Enabling HTTPS on the router does not mean it's globally available to the LAN/WiFi. It's only for the router's web interface so login credentials are encrypted.
- TamumiketApr 13, 2024AspirantLogging on to the router with https as admin is what I’m looking for.
I cannot find the option in the admin web interface to enable https to connect to the router- FURRYe38Apr 14, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Try loading Voxels 3rd Party FW.
HTTPS options wasn't a user configuration on the R9000 and is not a requirement. Users have to have LAN side access to do any nefarious things. I've never had HTTPS enabled on other routers that supported it as I'm the only one with access to routers heres.- KitsapApr 14, 2024Master

I am running the latest Voxel firmware, version 1.0.4.73HF, on my R9000. HTTPS login for the user interface is not an available option.
If you have users logged in to your R9000 network that are sniffing around for admin passwords, you have bigger problems than HTTPS access.

I cannot find the option in the admin web interface to enable https to connect to the routerIf it isn't where I suggested that you look (see above), this router must pre-date the time when Netgear added this feature.
The R9000 dates from around 2016. The https thing arrived later, after Netgear caved in to constant complaints from users who did not seem to understand that it adds nothing to the router's security.
It does not apply to break ins from the outside world and, as other say, if you use a weak password and you don't trust people on your own network you have other problems.
Did you ever explain why you want to use https?
