security software necessary?
hi, i called the netgear to check my router since my internet was down for a couple days and they told me the security software/program for the router has been expired so thats why its been blocking ...

This usually happens when people search Google for "Netgear support". The number they find, and call, has nothing to do with Netgear. It is just an other crook who Google is willing to take money from.
One clue is in the bit "thats why its been blocking my devices to get the internet through".
Netgear won't say that because it is just plain wrong.
Netgear may offer to take money for a support service provided through Gearhead. That does not cost $150, which is another clue.

No. But it probably won't be Netgear that you need to approach. You might do better to contact your credit card company and complaining that you have been scammed.
