Settings File Compatibility
I keep my firmware up-to-date and always save a copy of the latest settings file. Is this file compatible with some or all newer Nighthawk models? In other words, can it be used to initialize a newer...
No. Configuration saved files are only comaptible with in there own models. Not cross model compatible.
- As a retired IT guy, I'm totally astonished at the inability to standardize the settings. It should be a simple matter to save them (in a separate file if necessary) in a format that can be used by all NETGEAR routers manufactured in the past "n" years (where "n" is decided based on router compatibility). What is the hangup against doing so? If y'all can't do it, contract its design out to me....
That maybe all good and such however due to the fact that there are many different model routers, based on different chip sets and have different features, using same configurations across all models is not possible. NG has different models and different HW and such that distingushes there products from each other and other Mfrs. Wouldn't be good business practive if they did all the same thing across everything.
