slow inernet when connected to netgear router
My internet is slow when connected to nighthawk router(~220 Mbps) both using the ethernet cable and through wifi, but when connected directly to the Modem, i get 450Mbps.
I looked around and disabled QOS, changed channels, and reset everything, but no change in internet speeds. I am not getting more than 250 Mbps at any given time when connected to router either through the cable or wifi. No additional devices. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Adi.
There are several "features" that come at a relatively high cost to throughput.
Log in to the router configuration and disable the following:
Dynamic QOS
Traffic Meter
Universal Plug and Play (UPNP)
Smart Connect
Some are in the basic configuration section and some in advanced.
Save and apply the changes on each page and then power down your router and disconnect the power cord.
Go to your modem/gateway and power it off and disconnect the power cord. Wait a few seconds, connect the power cord and power up the modem/gateway and give it ample time to go through the startup process and stabilize. This could take several minutes. Then connect the power cord and power up your router.
After it has completed the startup process and stabilized, run your tests.

Hi FURRYe38,
the model number is AC2400. There is nothing on the router with R#### or RAX##.
i updated the firmware to latest which is V1.2.0.90_1.0.1
ISP details:
Provider: Spectrum
modem: ES2251 DOCSIS 3.1 eMTA ( there is no manufacturer name anywhere on the modem)
When connected to modem directly using lan cable : ~450 mbps
When connected to router using lan cable : ~250 mbps
When connected to router using wifi : ~250 mbps
I restarted the modem and router every time i did this testing and did multiple tests. Results are consistent. So something is off with the router configuration, as i am getting good speeds when connected to Modem directly.
Let me know if you need any other details.
Thanks,
Adi.
