The internet just cuts off, most of the time the lights on router are lit white.
The modem is brand new cause we kept thinking it was the modem, thats a Netgear CM700.

I attempted to get the new firmware, and when I logged in, there were no updates and the they are saying the current firmware is V1.0.9.88_10.2.88. Thanks for all of your advice, but it's not allowing me to update any further.

If you follow the link that plemans helpfully provided, you will find that there have been several "upgrades" since your version.
This tells you about the latest:
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.11.116 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
That also has instructions on how to update your router.
If that fails, explain what you are doing and where it goes wrong and someone may be able to guide you through the process.
Of course, that may not fix whatever is causing your problems. In which case, you'll have to come back with enough details to allow people to fathom out what might be going wrong.
