STILL Unable to update my Nighthawk r8000p to version 1.4.1.66_1.3.26

I have the same issue. Have updated the app and still unable to update the firmware
And netgear sadly doesn't give a **bleep** about their customers. There are multiple threads about this and not a single tech support person on one to offer help. They're a disgusting company and I'm never buying a router from them after I have enough money to get a new one.
Have you tried logging into the router via the browser at 192.186.1.1? This seeme to work for me.

does it actually make a difference? Isn't that just the IP address of routerlogin.com?

Yes. That's the whole point.
routerlogin.com is the IP address for the browser's graphical user interface (GUI).
When you get into that address you can try the favoured way of updating firmware:

Preferably do this with a wired link into the router's Ethernet.
