The message is generic and not customized for your router model. Unclear if it was sent only to users with router on the myNetgear product registration, or to all MyNetgear accounts which have not opted-out from allowing Netgear to send emails. Undoubted, the message content is lame, and reads like a phishing message - however good email providers have the capaility to reliably detecting scam, phishing, ... nowadays. If you still get these direct to your inbox - change your email provider.

There was an email scheduled to be sent out around this time of this nature.
You can of course go to www.netgear.com/support and lookup your product and manually check for available updates

Surey there is an Email address we can 'forward' the Email too for checking.
Other sites use 'scam.XXXXX.com' or something similar.
