Something happened a couple days ago where now i cannot even detect wifi 15 feet away from my unit. Internet through ethernet cable is perfect, just wifi range is next to zero. Any ideas on where to start looking?

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Cable Modems & Routers
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
The manual will tell you where to change the wifi settings.

Have you noticed a difference from 2.4ghz to 5ghz?
or has range on both bands dropped? What actual speeds do you get over both?
What speeds do you get wired into the router?
