Trouble with 5G dropping Internet on R7000
I have a R7000 Nighthawk router. Have had it for a few years now. Currently the 5G network is experiencing issues at times. At times I start gettting "No Internet" messages on the 5G channel only. It...

What mode is your ISP modem working in? Mode or router mode?
Your modem already has a built in router and wifi:
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.
How close is the modem to the router?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Currently it is running in PPPoE, I had turned off all of the wireless radios on it. Connected it via LAN. It sits like a foot from the Modem.
One other thing I did not mention is I do also have an AC1900 WiFi Range Extender from Netgear.
I did make one more change to that laptop that usually flakes out first this morning, wondering if that is causing it.
I've never tried Transparent bridge mode, but will try that next if I don't see improvement.
For Channels I'm using auto for 2g and 153 for 5g. When I've looked before there was never more than 3 on any of those channels. I will find the app to check that later and see how many currently. But that shows this:- FURRYe38Oct 07, 2021Guru - Experienced User
What is the distance between the router and this wifi extender?
Try turning OFF the extender for a period of time to see if the problem continues to be seen on the router.

Distance is only about 30 feet. Mainly bought it as an expensive wireless bridge for a few wired LAN devices. Will try that also. Thanks!
