Upon setup router says it can not detect cables.

the TC8717T is a modem/router combo device. its not strictly a modem.
Unless you have it in passthrough/modem only mode (not all device implement properly) it can put you in a double nat.

options?
1. put the TC8717T in modem only/pass through mode
2. put the netgear's ip address in the TC8717t's dmz
3. put the netgear in access point mode.
just use one of those modes.

- Thank you. But how do I get to this point if it doesn’t fully let me setup the router? Everytime I’m in the process of setting it up it can’t detect the cables, I close the app and reopen and it makes me start the process over again. Do I just need to set my modem to pass through mode?

- Unplug PC from network
- Plug R7450 into PC
- Set up R7450 in AP mode
- Unplug R7450 from
- Plug in PC
- Plug R7450 into the modem/router
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem/router. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on R7450 and wait 2 minutes for it connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
