Verizon Box in attic. Do I need a bridge?
I have the verizon internet box in the attic. I have 1 ethernet cable running from it down the wall into my router that sits in the middle of my home. The router it is running into is this model: R6700v3.
I have a room where I am setting up my office that is isolated. I have an extender EX6100v2 set up in that room. But, it's not doing the job. I have run an ethernet cable down the walls of that room from the attic. So, I have 2 ethernet cables chilling by the verizon box.
I don't want to have to run a second ethernet cable from where my router is currently, back into the wall.
I have an older router (l AC1200 model R6120). A friend of mine told me that I can set it up as a bridge. Run a cable from the verizon box into that R6120 (set up as a bridge), and 1 cable running from R6120 to the R6700v3 and into the concrete room.
Is this correct? OR, do I need to set it up a different way?

So what isn't doing the job? the R6700v3 or the EX6100v2?
Just to clarify, you're checking to see if you can/should replace the ex6100 with the R6120?
Not sure what you're asking.
do you have the EX6100 setup in access point mode?
Or how is it setup?
The EX6100 would actually perform better than the R6120 just for the mere fact its got a gigabit ethernet connection versus the R6120 is only 10/100mbps connection. Thats going to bottleneck the router.

R6700v3 is in use.
I am asking if I can should set up R6120 as a bridge in the attic where I would run 1 ethernet cable to the R6700v3 and one to the cement room that has the extender in it.
The extender isn't doing the job.Basically, the R6700v3 is connected to the verizon box. I need to know if I need a bridge device (proposed to be the R6120) in the attic which would connect the R6700v3 to the verizon box and the extender to the verizon box.

Which one? That could describe many devices. Make and model?
