VPN slows down R7800

Hi there,

 

Just set up PureVPN with my Nighthawk R7800 router. After enabling the VPN Client, my download speeds went from ~500 Mbps to ~15 Mpbs.

 

What are some of the options that I can play around with to see if I can get my higher download speed back?

    Some if not most VPNs impact performances. 

    Contact the MFr of the VPN regarding there product for help and information regarding this.

      VPN is dependant on the CPU power. You'll never reach 500 Mbps. The most you can get on the R7800 with VPN is about 60-100 Mbps, if not a bit less. I suggest installing the Voxel firmware (much improved stock firmware) which has optimized toolkit. If you're savvy enough, you can also install the Kamoj addon which adds A LOT of features on top of Voxel's firmware, including for VPN users
