Warranty is a scam

I purchased my new AC1900 from Walmart on 10/14/2020. It never worked great, but was good enough. In January 2021, service steadily degraded until it stopped working on 1/16/2021.

I filled out a form to make a warranty claim online and the website told me the warranty expires in October 2021 and to call a phone number to finish my claim. I called and the tech support guy told me that because it was refurbished, the warranty only lasted 90 days.

I explained that it was purchased new and he told me I was wrong. While he was still on the phone, I loaded up the item from my Walmart receipt and confirmed it was sold new with a one year warranty. He told me Walmart was lying. I asked him directly if he was telling me that his defense was that Walmart is defrauding customers by selling refurbished products as new. He said yes, it's very common (it's not).

He was getting increasingly rude, so I hung up and called back. The second guy seemed to think my warranty could be honored, but told me that because I was past 90 days, I had to pay for tech support to confirm it was broken. I told him I wasn't paying for them to honor their warranty. I then told him about my last call and like magic, he suddenly started telling me my warranty had indeed expired on January 12.

I asked to speak to his supervisor, he said he can't do that. I asked repeatedly and he insisted there are no supervisors to talk to. After several minutes, he said he could escalate it and someone would call me back within 48 hours. I agreed. He then put me on hold for over 20 minutes, obviously in hopes that I would hang up. I didn't and he finally came back and told me he'd put in my request. Obviously, I never heard from anyone.

It's very obvious that Netgear tech support agents are trained to lie. They used the same tactics.

So now I'm trying this. I don't intend to stop searching for a resolution until I find it. I'm happy to hear any tips.
