Why a modem that is nearly $100 more than one that seems equivalent?
I have to buy a new modem since my old one is dying. I have found three that are approved for my ISP/plan, one of them being Netgear CM2000. I have an Orbi RBR50 system that works great so the Netgear...
The two other modems are the the ARRIS Surfboard S33 and Motorola MB8611. Looks like the CM2000 has dropped in price since yesterday so now the difference is "only" $50. They all have the same spec it seems. Probably the same chip although I can't find what's in the Netgear CM2000. I do not have any voice or TV services, only Internet.
I have an Orbi RBR50 router with one satellite. I'm really happy with that and it works very well.
According to Xfinity my plan is 1.2 Gbps down / 40 Gbps up and all three modems are listed as approved and compatible with my service. My dying modem is not.

I've heard good things about the S33 but I haven't really heard anything on the MB8611
