You're Welcome,
Then there's your answer, they are probably using some proprietary FW in their router/modem.

Sep 07, 2016Try a reset to defaults use defaults except for WIFI, see if that makes a difference.
If the internet LED is orange remove WAN cable for a second and reconnect it......also if IPV6 is enable try disabling.....is router status you can try to renew IP too.
Some process stops when service is down and won't restart without a reboot. Try a power cycling ISP box next time.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond Retired_Member,
I have the LED's disabled so couldn't tell, but will try the WAN cable disconnect next time.
(Just to clarify....This is not a repeat problem with disconnection, it is very rare to lose service, indeed this time was as a result of me needing to access the test plug at the main BT incoming box due to a telephone line failure).
I note with interest you suggest a service may simply get interupted and therefore require a reboot.........would that be within the router iteself or the PC? (I had not tried rebooting PC)
Thanks again

I doubt it's in the router certainly not the PC, more than likely something with the ISP, you should contact them.

Will get zero support as not using ISP's Router
But thanks anyway
