Which router are we talking about?
Many come with something called "smart connect". These broadcast with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with the same SSID and password.
The idea is that your wifi clients will connect to the one that works best for it. If something doesn't work with 5 GHz, it will connect to 2,4 GHz.
Manuals are always a good place to start.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the model number on the label on the device.
That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.
Look for a section in the manual called something like Enable or Disable Smart Connect.
