wi-fi not working

Operating Win10 Pro. Working off LAN. Cabling: Lan to a Netgear switch. Cable to desktop and cable to Router. Using Nighthawk App I can connect but with no internet. Have re-booted Router and re-connected cables to no avail. I have hardwire wi-fi connection thru desktop.

    Is this a new purchase?

Did something happen to start this?

Just curiuos as you didn't give us much other than it doesn't work.

What modem/gateway is it connected to?

You have the R6900P in your signature?

    What firmware is on it?

You could say this is a new unit because it has never been used. We purchased the unit almost a year ago couldn't get it to work, went through a troubleshooting process with Netgear, still didn't work so we just put on the side. Now we have a 3D printer we want operate wirelessly so we are trying again.

This is wired to a company LAN which provides the wired internet. The LAN cable goes to a switch is connected to the Router and the desktop. We are getting internet service through the desktop but not the router, as we said the app dsays it's connected but without internet.

Not sure where to get the firmware. Model is R6900P. OS is WIN10PRO.

When you say you're going through a company lan, it makes me curious who's controlling it and if they're allowing the router.

It can also cause a double. Some routers/devices don't play nicely with a double nat. A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
        1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
        2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
        3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

In your case, you'd need to use either option 2 and contact your company IT (who ever manages the lan) to put the netgears IP address into the DMZ. Or you'd want option 3 and put the netgear in access point mode.
