WiFi performance issue R7000 R7800 and Galaxy S7

Hello everyone,

I have some issues with internet download speed in combination with galaxy S7.

I have tested it with R7000, R7800 and twodifferent galaxy S7.

My connection speed is 866Mbps. My upload and download speeds to my Synology NAS are good I think. It's about 300Mbps.

But when I run speedtest.net to check my internet speed it's sticking at 120-130Mbps when using Galaxy S7. When I use iPhone 6s, It's 180-190Mbps which is almost my maximum internet speed from ISP.

So I think there's an issue between S7 in combination with Netgear router. With other router like Linksys E6500, there is no issue.

Tried different settings but nothing realy helps.

I hope someone can help me.

My ISP cable modem/router was the culprit. It's strange because iphone 6s had no issues.

My cable modem/router is now in bridge mode, so it's just a "dumb" modem right now.

  • Sounds like the S7 is about 60Mps slower...      Your saying with the E6500  the S7  gets that 60Mbps back?...that is really odd.

It has the same 866Mps connection (5Ghz) to the E6500?   The S6 was not using 2.4?  (upto 300Mps)?

I have an old S4  and its doesn't have good 5Ghz ability my R7000 unless I'm really close to the router.

S7 is 60Mbps slower than iPhone6s. Same link speed connection of 866mbps.  Tried it on R7000 and R7800.

But only with internet download speedtest. Copying to Nas is way better.

At first I thought it had something to do with my modem from ISP. But someone else with same modem and provider, who was using S7 and Linksys E6500, had no troubles at all. He measured 300MBps download with speedtest.net. So it's not directly a S7 issue but maybe a combination of factors.

I really like R7000 because of great wifi range but I will test other brand router this week to see if problem continues. I know 120-130Mbps is good enough but I want to be future proof and like the idea to have maximum speed.

      Also tried different settings like:

      MTU

      CTS,RTS

      PreAmble

      different Channels

      AP mode

      Security modes

        How odd..

Let us know..     I always like Linksys from back in the day but when I was looking for a router their  1900ACS routers seemed to be having

        fundamental problems..

ASUS was supposed to be faster or as fast as the netgear per the smallnetbuilder site.
