Ok I had the same problem I do not own your router But Go to the Properties of your NIC's then go to Configure of all your NIC's and make sure if you have it, a Power management tab, go under this tab and turn off all power management stuff Like Respond to ARP Requs, Respond to NS Requs, Ect. turn off All Power saving options also turn off all wake on lan I own a Netgear WNDR4500 as a WAP. This fixed the probmel WIn10 has been doing some fishy stuff when it comes to updates turning porwer and privcy options back on after a update.. Thinks Windowns. Hopefully this fixs your problem. this is for win 10/8.1 os

I can use ANY browser to surf the internet with wi-fi or connecting to router with Ethernet cable, even though the icon on the lower right shows a warning that I'm NOT CONNECTED.

Your Ethernet Adapter IS NOT connected though. You are using your WIRELESS connection.
Use the browser and put in 192.168.1.1, then enter admin and password for the ID and P/W and look at the connected devices.
