That sounds correct. The only thing worse than two devices on a LAN trying to function as a router, would be three.

It is an Optical Network Terminal but I did not find a model number on it. Only a MAC number.

The question is, does the ONT perform any routing function?
Does the ONT have more than one Ethernet output port?

The ONT has LAN1, LAN2, LAN3 and LAN4 but only LAN1 is used (connected to X4S).

I have changed my XR500 to access point mode and everything worked as usual so far.
