Bridge Mode on Xfinity XB8 vs AP Mode on Nighthawk RS700
As the subject reads, I am looking for advice/opinions on what is the best configuration to use for my home network. I primarily purchased the RS700 to have better Wi-Fi coverage since the modem that...

That kind of depends on what you want and what your needs are. Either of those configurations would work.
Also maybe something to try as well, just disable ALL wifi radios on the ISP modem, keep it in router mode. Then use the ISP modems DMZ or IP-Pass thru feature for the RS700 and use the RS700 in router mode. Kind of double nat configuration here however the DMZ/IP-Pass thru avoids that.

Is DMZ similar to port forwarding in this scenario?

No really. DMZ is just putting the IP address of the device out in front of the host routers firewall, not behind it. This is ok since the RS has a firewall in use while in router mode.

Got it. I am looking forward to trying this out, but I have another question (hopefully my last question).
Once I disable the Wi-Fi radios and "un-broadcast" them, and set the DMZ to the IP of the RS700 in my ISP's admin page, what happens to the devices that are currently connected to the ISP's Wi-Fi. Can it stay as-is since DMZ will re-route them to the RS700 or do I need to manually connect them to the other network?
I hope my question makes sense.

If you use same wifi ssid broadcast from the ISP wifi router on the RS router they will auto migrate to the RS. Or if you use a different SSID name, then you'll need to connect them to the new RS SSID named network.

Initially during setup for the Nighthawk, I used a different SSID but same password. I'm probably going to use the same SSID now while I try this out. Thanks!
