Who's your ISP? And the speed tier you pay for?
That's another key. Some of the older AC1900 with voice don't qualify for the faster plans.
If you're going to buy a super expensive router, the added expense of a modem that supports the higher speeds, can be worth it. (if you pay for faster speeds)
