Nighthawk Rs200
Non technical user!
I currently have Virgin media 1000 gb package using their version 4 hub router via cable access.
Can i plug this into the net gear product or do i have to connect a cable from the virgin hub to the nighthawk? If I do this does that mean I am still relying on the VM hub for BD speed?
I also use an amplifi mesh network to boost signal strength around the house
I'm always a fan of better gear but when you're already using a reputable system, I'd recommend figuring out whats causing the current issues before throwing money at it.
I'd start with the hub-4. It isn't known for being that great. Get it into modem only/passthrough mode and see how that impacts your stability.
Once you get it stable, if you're already needing a mesh system and still want to upgrade, I'd look at picking up a Wireless BE mesh system and not just a router. Wifi 7 added a little distance but not enough to replace a mesh system and if you go from mesh to single router solution, you'll be lacking coverage at the peripheral.

You have quite the mix of devices.
To start off with, the Hub 4 is a modem/router combo device. but not a very good router. many set it in passthrough/modem only mode and connect their router to it.
So you'd go vigin hub----->RS200---->mesh system
If you have the virgin hub in passthrough mode, the RS200 should be in router mode with the mesh system in access point mode.
Cobbling stuff together tends to end up with instabilities/issues. In the future I'd try and stick with one setup like going the virgin gateway to a mesh system.
Thank you for the advice.
I already use the amplifi mesh system connect to the vm4 hub via cable. Should i switch the VM 4 to modem only?
My issue is frequent drop out of internet connection or very poor download speed despite have the top VM package
Did you already buy the RS200? Or are you just researching?
Reason I ask is that amplifi makes some pretty nice gear.
Figuring out whats causing the current slow down/drops would be what I'd recommend first.
Try putting the VM4 in passthrough and connect the mesh system to it. That would fix your double nat.
