Nighthawk RS700 router, 2 Nighthawk AC8 Mesh Extenders, changed Network Map on app

    You don't say what the Mesh extenders are, but you should be able to work with them "on line". You already said that you they show up on the network.

     

    If that doesn't show the IP address, look at the list of "Attached Devices" listed in the main router. That should show the extenders and the IP addresses that the router has allocated to them. Then throw that into a browser and you should pull up the graphical user interface (GUI).

     


    It’s a Zyxel VMG4927, which is no longer being manufactured.  There is a network available to me named Zyxel 23190, which must be related to the modem. 

     

    That could be where the problem lies. You have two routers. Your map is probably confused as to which is in charge. It may not see devices that are under the control of the other router.

     

    Turning off the wifi of the modem/router will not fix the problem. (That is often just  a case of pressing a switch on the thing.) The thing is still working as a router. So you also need to disable the modem bit if you want the RS700 to be the main router.

     

    Unfortunately, Google can't find a Zyxel VMG4927. Usually you could just google "[model number] bridge mode".

    Another approach is to put the RS700 into access point mode. The manual for the router explains how to go about that:

     

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

    Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

    Or there is this:

    but then you hit this:

     

    Disabled Features on the Router when set to AP Mode | Answer | NETGEAR Support

     

    You'll have to work out if that blocks things that are important to you.
