This is the norm for any Android device. It's the same for any Windows computer since Windows 7 (maybe even XP) from what I recall. If you don't want people knowing what your main wifi's password is, you need to create a Guest network and have them connect to that.
Alternatively, if you really want to lock down your network, you could turn on Access Control (Advanced > Security > Access Control) to allow and block devices in your network. I find this more trouble than it's worth in a home network, but you can use it to block devices that you don't recognize.
