Port Forwarding on Nighthawk RS500 & Starlink
I've recently switched to Starlink which has dramatically increased the Internet speeds in our rural location. I have the Starlink router on 'bypass' and connected to a Nighthawk RS500 WiFi router. E...

Thanks FURRYe38,
On further investigation, it appears that Starlink works on CGNAT so nothing is going to get through to the NG router! I'm now learning all about OpenVPN and hope to set up a VPN tunnel to bypass the Starlink router.

Check to see if the SL Router has a DMZ feature, if it does, try inputting the IP address given by the SL router to the RS in the SL router DMZ.

No, the Starlink router does not support DMZ ....
Thanks anyway.

I know from what others posted about SL, they were able to get some kind of SL modem to ethernet adapter and then install a 1Gb non managed switch in between this adapter and the connecting downstream router. Not sure of you have this adapter from SL or something different. Sounds like this maybe an ISP issue that you should contact them and get there help with there configurations.

I believe the original Starlink routers had no ethernet ports and so an adapter was required. The more recent models, like mine, have two ethernet ports so an adapter is not required. I'm not sure contacting Starlink will be very productive as the FAQ page on their website states that they don't issue fixed IP's and don't support connected third party hardware!
The best advice I can find is to VPN my way past the Starlink router but I've absolutely no experience with VPN so I'm stumbling about a bit and learning 'on the fly'!
