RS300 Unable to connect to the internet

Just got my new RS300 today, and man has it been a ride. I am unable to get this thing connected to the internet no matter what I do. I've rebooted the router, and modem Updated the firmware to the...

    To give an update here. I did end up solving the issue after taking a break. 

    For any one having this issue, if they come across this, these where my steps

    Connected to old router, downloaded the firmware update and installed it from the PC (Switched the network cable to the netgear router, and told it to install from my desktop) > grab your MAC address and DNS server information while you are here.

     

    Unplugged the power to the modem

    Entered the MAC address under Advanced > Internet setup.

    Entered the Primary DNS and secondary DNS servers

    Plugged in the power to the modem and network cable

    This for some reason worked on the 2nd try. Maybe I botched it the first time by adding - (that's how my old router showed the mac) instead of :.

     

    I got to this being the main possibility by plugging the modem directly into the PC, which this time it did not get an internet connection. It leads me to assume that the lease time is rather long and wont renew on seeing a new MAC / device
