RS300 Wifi 7 router
Recently purchased a Netgear RS300 Wifi 7 router. Wireless works great, unable to get my lan wired devices to work. I have tried 2 Netgear unmanaged switches and neither switch can get IP addresses...

Well the Modem supplied for "FREE" from cable company comes Plug and Pray out of the box. Nothing to setup. Don't even have access to it.
Sadly, that tells us nothing about what it is and what features it offers.

What happens when you plug that into the switch and try to connect to the network? Forget about command-line stuff, does Windows networking troubleshooter show anything.
As I said before, Windows can be picky. Windows likes to protect us from new networks that might be evil. In reality, it often shuts us out of safe networks.
One thought is that you could tell Windows that you are on a "private network".
- Network and Internet settings
- Network Status
- Change Connection Properties
- Network Profile
- Private
If all of the devices on the network work happily when you leave the switches out of the equation and with direct wired connections to the router, the suspicion has to fall on the switches and something about their wiring.
I opened a Command Prompt on my PC and ran a dos command ipconfig/ all and it returns the IP address, subnet mask and gateway.
Is that through the switches or direct to the router?
The router really doesn't have much to do with traffic management.
I am also a retired Network Administrator for 30 years. So not new to this stuff.
What does that tell you about the behaviour you see?

Purchased a new D-Link switch on the way home last night. Same thing, will not get IP address. Also plugged PC directly into the modem and it also got no IP address.
Tried to call NetGear support again, was on Hold for 30 minutes and never did connect with anyone.
Problem will be solved today. I am purchasing a new router, not NetGear, returnining this one and my headache should be over.
Thanks for your insight into this!
