I don't think that's fair to say Netgear has abandoned the product LoL. They've released a number of lesser models below the RS700 in the same form factor.
I've had my RS700 since April of 2024 and have had zero issues. Why does the frequency of firmware updates make you think it's abandoned? If we had firmware updates every month, I would be worried that the product was released too soon and the company decided to "fix later."
I'm 100% happy with my purchase!

this router has had firmware updates and some fixing a lot of items. Compared to their Orbi series though which gets a lot of firmware updates the nighthawk does appear to not be as important to them now.
and I do get drops, and problems with staying connected. My router also refuses to accept this latest firmware. Support told me to WIPE the router to factory. Which is unacceptable when you have 20 plus devices.
personally I am disappointed in this router.

When you factory reset, reset the router and setup from scratch and try to load the new FW. If you can get the FW updated, then setup the SSID name and PW same as before and your devices will re-connect.
If new FW isn't able to be loaded after this, let NG support know.
