Error after Full backup: "cannot create __foo__ file"
Hi I have the exact same error as mentioned in this topic but I didn't find any solution in the discussion: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS-in-Business/Backup-to-Windows-net...

Hi Kryptonic
Welcome to the Community!
It would be best to check on your Log file, You send me a PM of your logs shared from Google drive if possible.
Have you tried recreating the backup job? or choosing a different location for the Destination?

Hello Marc, I just sent you some screenshots via PM.
Unfortunately recreating the backup job did not help (same error message).
The backup location is an SMB share on Freenas, I tried another share on the same Freenas server but I got the same error message again.
I still need to test it out with a backup location on a different system (my Windows PC for example), but I don't see any reason why the Freenas shares would cause any problems (I tested with full control permission for "everyone" on my destination folder/share)

FreeNAS also supports rsync - it might be useful to test that, and see if rsync backup also fails.

Hi Stephen
Actually my backup doesn't fail but it's generating this strange error even after all my files were successfully copied to the backup destination (freenas smb share). I didn't have time yet to try out the rsync backup tasks on readynas but I will try it soon.
For now I think I first need to do run some more tests with the regular backups.
Interesting fact: there is no error message when uncheck: "remove the contents of the backup destination before full backup".
All the other settings are unchanged so this is the option that causes my error message but I don't understand why.I still need to test with another backup location (didn't have time to finish it yet) to see if it generates the same error message if I check the option to "remove the contents of the backup location before full backup".

All the other settings are unchanged so this is the option that causes my error message but I don't understand why.It is a puzzle. It suggests that __foo__ might be a hidden file in a destination folder.
