ReadyCloud-Like similar product
I have an older ReadyNAS Ultra 6. I know Netgear shut down ReadyCloud in July 2023. I am trying to access my data files remotely and I cannot do it. I have tried every setting and none seem to work. ...

Does it run 4.2.x firmware? Or have you converted it to run OS-6?
Also who is your internet service provider (ISP)? Some use a technology called Carrier Grade NAT, which can get in the way of some solutions.

Personally I have a Netgear Router (Orbi) that has an OpenVPN server feature. That gives me full remote access to my home network.

StephenB, I am sorry I did not reply sooner. My ReadyNAS is running OS 6.10.9. I was running 6.10.10 but I had read bad reviews about that version. My ISP is ATT Fiber. I hope this gives you a bit more information. Please let me know if you need additional information

6.10.10 is ok, but you do lose the ability to install apps from the add-on page. There is a hack- you can install the deb files using the firmware update control.
Anyway, with OS-6 you can try zerotier or tailscale - links are in Sandshark's post. There is a learning curve for both, so be prepared for that.
If you have an always-on PC you can map the NAS data volume to a PC drive letter. That gives you some other options for remote file access - including Resilio's Sync product and NextCloud.
It is also possible to set up port forwarding in your router and use FTPS (encrypted FTP). You'd need to make sure you are using a strong password. There is a potential security risk with that approach, because the NAS no longer receives security updates.
