ReadyNAS 102
Received an email from netgear informing me I should change my readycloud account to a mynetgear account and then upgrade my readynas 102 to version 6.5. Have created and can open mynetgear account...

The email is confusing, but if you read it carefully, you'll see the phrase "After the transition..." That transition hasn't happened yet.
6.5 is in beta (release candidate RC3) and I expect it will be released shortly (likely a few days). Then the ReadyCloud SSO transition will start. 6.5 will be the next firmware release for your RN102.

Hello miket82,
Hopefully next week is the release if 6.5.0.
ReadyCloud will be available to 6.5.0 only, meaning, older firmware will no longer have access to ReadyCloud. Make sure to upgrade your ReadyCloud account as well as those accounts that are invited to access your NAS once you update to 6.5.0.
Welcome to the community!
Regards,

That mail is certainly confusing. It had me trying to update firmware to 6.5 and converting my account a couple of times, pulling my hair out because I could not figure out what the heck I was doing wrong.
The mail states:
Dear Luthien,
This email message is to notify you that your ReadyCLOUD account is changing to a MyNETGEAR single sign-on account. By migrating your existing ReadyCLOUD account to a MyNETGEAR single sign-on account, we offer you one single sign-on account to manage all your NETGEAR products. This transition will take place in early May.
To continue to use ReadyCLOUD, you must follow these steps:
'this transition will take place in early May' - well, it is now the 14th, so I naturally assumed that I should move ahead.
I hope that the ones who send out these mails do realise now that this sort of thing is indeed confusing, and is likely to put people on the wrong track. Just a little more care to how they phrase things would help.

What a CRAPPY rollout. Welcome to the age of a "global workforce". Before this age, US companies (with employees consisting of a US-born and educated workforce) would NOT roll out a product if it was not ready.
I got that same email, and yes it is a perfect example of morons as managers in a company letting sub-standard policies and installations to go through. So I wasted several hours trying to figure out how to "migrate" to the new cloud as it is PAST "early May". So I went to my NAS and it said to upgrade the firmware to 6.5 or whatever the current release is. "Oh", I thought, "that must be what I'm doing wrong". I let it upgrade to the most recent firmware, and now it won't even connect to the cloud.
Nevermind that my "forced" upgrade to windows10 on my laptop completely destroyed my connectivity to the NAS (I have to use an older Win7 or XP laptop if I want to transfer files now). The NAS firmware update did nothing to connect to the "new and improved" cloud. I can't log into it, I can't create a new account... the web page sits there forever loading no matter what browser I use.
Way to completely DROP THE BALL, Netgear. EPIC FAIL. The netgear cloud is USELESS.
And by the way, I have several gigabit green routers with that "lifetime" warranty that have failed. I've also been unsuccessful at implementing your warranty and sending them to you for replacement. What the #$#%*& are you all doing at corporate?
I'm about to lose all faith in Netgear products and completely pull my endorsement of them (and I also hold an upper management position at a large national retailer so my endorsement does influence the sale of your products in my stores).

We wanted to make sure as many users as possible are aware of the upcoming migration before it happens so they don't wonder what's going on when the migration happens.
For Windows 10 (on LAN, not using ReadyCLOUD) you should make sure the workgroup of the NAS matches that of the PC so that it is discoverable. We have a new feature in 6.5.0 which should mean the NAS is properly discovered much more often.
For ReadyCLOUD and Windows 10 you should run the latest version of the ReadyCLOUD app.
For products with lifetime limited hardware warranty (note no ReadyNAS has a lifetime warranty) or those still covered by the term of the limited hardware warranty you would get an RMA number (once tech support has verified the problem is with the hardware) and instructions on how to send the defective product in. For some products there may be an advanced replacement option.
Seeing you are in a management position at a large national retailer you may wish to reach out to the account manager at NETGEAR expressing your concerns.
