With LMS from the App 'store' uninstalled I could not get either of SP's lms_1.0.8_all.deb or 1.0.7 to install. It just threw up an error.
So I reinstalled the version in the app store and then did a manual install of LMS 7.8.1 downloaded to my PC from the nightly builds http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Nightly_Builds (the debian package).
The install took down the old version (which was running) and stood up the new one without missing a beat. I did a rescan but it even seemed to work with the existing library :)
Sounds great, I might do the same.
Any reason you didnt go for 7.9?
BTW: why not use the NTGR package? "Logitech Media Server: NETGEAR ReadyNas Pro Installer Package (i386)"
