Joomla v. 3.3 request php v. 5.3.10 or higher

I have follew the guides on how to install PHP and MYSQL on the DUO V2 box. (http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=63434&p=389998&hilit=Joomla#p389998)
Everything works as it should.
Then I downloaded Joomla v. 3.3 and uplaoded to the nasbox.
Then when I enter the folder share though a web browser I get this "information" ; Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.10 or higher to run this version of Joomla!

If I run this cmdlet; apt-get install nano libapache2-mod-php5 php5 php5-mysql php5-gd phpmyadmin - It just tell me that everything is updated.
My question is how do I upgrade the PHP version ?
I could download Joomla v. 2.5 but that runs out of support in december 2014, so thats not an option.
