Migrate from Egnyte to iDrive

We are using ReadyNAS 312 with a subscription to Egnyte.  We need to reduce our costs, and we don't use all the features of Egnyte, so I need a simple step-by-step process for migrating from Egnyte to iDrive.

I know I need to uninstall the Egnyte app and install the iDrive app to the NAS, but I'm specifically looking for help making sure the data, security and drive mappings I'm using will still work.  We have laptop users who are syncing offline files, so I would LOVE to keep the file structure on the NAS the same and just set their security at the share folder level once we uninstall Engyte (all folder permissions are managed by Egnyte right now).

The current folder structure is \\ip _adress\elc\shared\ with folders for Public, Users, Apps under that.  This is the structure I would like to keep, but I'm worried about users not being able to access their files once Egnyte is uninstalled.  Egnyte recommended that I copy all the folders from the elc folder to the root of the volume and then remap all drives and re-set up the offline file syncing.  I'd really rather not do that if I don't have to.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

  • Thanks for the help...but Egnyte called me and we were able to work out some better pricing for us that will allow us to stay with their product, so we can mark this question answered.

    Thanks again!

    Hi LoriRoth,

    Welcome to the community!

I haven't tried this yet. But one thing I'm sure is that even if Egnyte is disabled on your system, the ELC share stays. Though I'm not sure with the permissions. If I were you, I will follow the suggestion from Egnyte or let's ask JohnnyEgnyte and others for their input.

    Kind regards,
