That is true. Not a lot of incentive, especially for the free ones.

it looks fairly simple to install (not sure that applies to upgrading existing old installations) using instructions @ https://www.odoo.com/documentation/10.0/setup/install.html
refer to the deb community section
that said, I do not know what other dependencies you will need, or what might need modified to ensure that it does not fill up the root system partition (limited space available).
You might try installing it into a test system (a readynas virtual machine image would probably work).
If you only have 1 readynas, you could test by power down, remove all disks (number to make sure they go back in same slot),
put a single EXTRA disk that is safe to erase, do a factory default with the single disk (this will of course delete all data on that disk),
then do a basic setup (you can leave most settings at default.
Once your test system is running, you can ssh in and follow the instructions provided above at the odoo website.
You may also need to research how to make sure the service will run at startup (google debian jessie startup script), if the install package doesn't do that for you.
if everything works to your satisfaction, you can then try it on your normal readynas disks. Power down, put the disks back in the way they were, then repeat the steps you used to get it working on the test system.
You may also want to post on the odoo forums to see if there are any issues upgrading from your old version to version 10 and/or 11.
