ReadyNAS 104 locking up, caused by the bit rot option?
Hello, I recently purchased a ReadyNas 104, I updated the OS to 6.2.5 but I have this NAS freeze that happens a lot and the only way out is to pull the power plug. After many tries I think I ...

So far for days I did not have any lockups.
The 2 things I did was disable the 'virus scanner' and disable any 'rot protection'

That is a strange question. I do not expect a NAS to freeze completely for hours over the type of data.
But the answer is, mostly RAW images 24 MB each.
Also the freeze happens when the NAS if 50% full no snapshots, or anything special.
I am not even accessing the drive at that moment. It can even freeze when my computer is down.
No special cleanup processes are running when it freezes. Nothing in the logs.
When I press the power button the display does not light up, and nothing happens when I press the backup or power button for 30 or more seconds.
So far since I disabled bit rot on all my shares I seem not to have any lockup issues anymore.

I was convinced that it was bit rot setting but the issue is stille there.
This time during backup, it just freezes. The backup light is blinking, but nothing is happening.
The only way out of this is to pull the power cord.

I asked about what kind of data as some use cases are more suited to using bit-rot protection than others.
Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?- obaeyensSep 15, 2015Aspirant
I disabled bit rot and I disabled the anti-virus and I appear not to have any more hangs.
Yesterday I hand hangups during backup, but today the backup completed.
I will send in the logs, it might be interesting for the developers team.
