Of course it's always bad when data is lost. I hope you can manage to get the files back.
I am not seeing any cloud fixes in the 6.6.1 release notes. I suspect the fix made in your linked post ended up in 6.7.0.
While you are waiting for Netgear to respond, I suggest rebooting your NAS in read-only mode. That will prevent the deleted files from being overwritten (and not recoverable).
